The welding process of everyday welding supplies

For welders, whether it is TIG welding, MIG welding, or Laser Beam welding, patience during the welding process is very important.

As the Development Engineer for Equipment with Welding Industries of Australia (WIA) Willem Corbett says, “There is no single welding process suitable for all welding situations. What’s important is understanding which process is best suited to your application.”

The most widely used form of welding today is electric arc welding, in which an electric arc melts an electrode (welding wire, for instance) and partially melts the base metal. When the molten metals cool, the parts fuse together. There are different types of arc welding, but we're going to concentrate on MIG (metal inert gas). A form of wire-feed welding, it's the easiest type to master, especially if you're teaching yourself.

The most common welding processes include:

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) often referred to as Metal Inert Gas (MIG),

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) often referred to as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG),

Flux-Cored Arc Welding ((FCAW),

Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) often referred to as ‘Stick’ welding,

Laser Beam Welding(Laser Welding);

Each of which has its own set of benefits and limitations. According to Willem, there are a number of factors that must be considered to determine which welding machine will be the most appropriate for your needs. These include:

·         Type of material being welded

·         Thickness of material

·         Required weld metallurgy

·         Welding position

·         Available power supply, for example, single-phase or three-phase

·         Amount of available current

·         Time requirements

Decide what you want to accomplish by welding, then buy tools capable of doing what you need to do.

Laser beam welding tools:

Compared with the previous welding machines, the laser beam welding consumables should be the least, sometimes even without consumables. In the case of thin materials, generally it can be welded without consumables.

The only common consumable is the metal wire in the wire feeder. Laser beam welding is the most environmentally friendly welding machine.

No consumables, no need to go through a long time of training, ordinary people can get started very quickly after setting the parameters.

It saves labor costs and can save you a lot of money.
